Dear Food Lover - Welcome to Fléva!
People often ask me Why do I do what I do and I always say because I LOVE IT! My grandmother & Auntie Detta were fantastic cooks. It was always brilliant to sit down and share in the fun & laughter created by one of their regular delish feasts. Everyone at some point loves to have a meal cooked for them and I am one of those people that loves serving food to make others feel happy.
The word Fléva is a slang word from New Orleans meaning “What’s Happening Now!”. In today’s terms we feel this means that people want to enjoy really good stylish food in a relaxed setting without costing them the earth. We have a great team in the kitchen & on the floor that always does their best to provide this to our customer.
We are an upstairs restaurant with six beautiful windows overlooking Kilkenny’s bustling High Street. Here people always love to dine by our windows to watch the world go by! Customers often come straight to Fléva after their holidays to recapture that holiday feeling. Our blend of creative Irish cooking with our colourful restaurant, inspired by my mother’s love of amazing flowers, art & Feng Shui reminds them of when they felt happy & chilled out. Season this! with a celebration of world culture through dedicated staff, food, wine & music also reminds them of lavishing the senses & enjoying themselves.
Another flavour of Fléva is Eco Dining. You know that TV ad? What one thing will you do for the environment? ... Well! We recycle, we use Airtricity, we run an Organic Sunday Brunch & Farmers Market Lunch and watch our Carbon Miles on all our menus. Supporting local, seasonal & organic produce is very important to us too. We're not just about quirky, fun and funky!!!
Fléva may mean what’s happening now, though for me it means an adventure with love through food and that’s what I want to share with you. My wish for you is that you feel happier after leaving us then before you arrived.... that you feel.... Fléva is a restaurant you can lighten up with!
